Mineral makeup is made up of a variety of the earth’s natural mineral elements. These elements are rocks, clay and crystals like mica, titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, kaolin, ultramarine blue, tin oxide are super fine milled mineral particles that lay onto the skins surface. Therefore, the buffing motion that is done when applying Mineral makeup, the Minerals melt onto the skins surface and appears like real skin.
A pure raw mineral makeup is combined with inorganic pigments to achieve the desired shade or colour. For a mineral makeup to be pure it should not contain artificial colours, synthetics, preservatives or fragrances, fillers, or talc. KIBI has none of those chemicals.
Simply, there doesn’t need to be. Cosmetics made from pure minerals and inorganic pigments that exist in nature do not need preservatives. Particularly in our Mineral Powder range, bacterial and fungal growth do not occur in completely dry pure mineral based cosmetics. Therefore, pure mineral cosmetics will last longer, is healthier for you and feel better on the skin due to the earthy feels.
A nanoparticle is a piece of ‘material’ so small that its size is measured in nanometres or billionths of a meter, so tiny, small. A typical nanoparticle is approximately 1/50000 smaller than the diameter of a human hair. This sized nano partial makes them unpredictable when exposed to different conditions and environments.
Early scientific studies show that when exposed to UV light nanoparticles used in cosmetics produce free radicals that damage the DNA and cells. If make-up has nano-sized particles these particles are more easily absorbed into the body. Avoiding products with ingredients that have nano-sized particles is a safer option. Fragrances are the most common cause of irritation to the skin. However, it is important to note that there are fragrances that can be completely natural. Nevertheless, be aware that most commercial cosmetic fragrances contain chemicals such as phthalates that are used to make the scent last longer. Phthalates are unnatural and unhealthy as it is known to sometimes accumulate in the body. Synthetic fragrance formulas can trigger some nasty health side-effect like asthma and headaches.
Even sometimes when you think you are buying fragrance free or unscented products need the ingredient label still need to be checked. Some may be labelled unscented, or fragrance free but additional chemicals may be used to cover up the raw ingredient’s odours. Pure raw mineral based cosmetics do not use fragrances and doesn’t really have a smell.

Pure mineral based cosmetics use titanium dioxide as a natural sunscreen. Titanium dioxide acts as UVA-UVB protection reflecting light and protecting your skin in sunlight. Zinc is a natural anti-inflammatory agent. These ingredients are known also as a physical block, the minerals are able to capture the light & reflect it from the skins surface. High quality mineral-based cosmetics will stay on your skin when perspiring or moderate swimming. Natural mineral makeup has SPF (sun protection) properties and water proofing properties. Most mineral based cosmetics have about SPF 15 on average. KIBI mineral makeup has a 15 SPF factor.
Mica are common rock-forming minerals. Mica is a generic name given to a group of complex hydrous aluminosilicate minerals that crystallise with a sheet or plate-like structure. It is a natural shimmer pigment from the mineral Muscovite Mica (potassium aluminium silicate). When applies to the skin it offers light reflection and a healthy, glowing appearance.
Mica powder in cosmetics is used as a filler & texturiser for improved skin feel. It increases slip & aids skin adhesion. It also acts as a fluffing agent in emulsions, reduces greasiness of oil-containing formulas, can replace talc as filler and has anti-caking properties (prevents clumping and clogging). All round a good rock.

Yes. Our mineral makeup is triple milled and micronised, contains ingredients that physically protects the skins surface. Zinc oxide and titanium oxide are just some of the ingredients that assist in protection and healing. Our minerals are safe to use after any skin treatment deep or otherwise.
However, this is always at the discretion of the therapist to what is applied to any skin post treatment and will depend on what sort of treatment and how deeply the treatment was to what the professional skin therapist deems the right thing to use. Sun protection is paramount at this time.
Yes absolutely, reason being that Minerals are light reflective, so they reflect light in all the right places to offers you a naturally flawless finish. The electrolyte minerals found like magnesium help skin attract and hold moisture. If you have a dryer skin, apply your daily moisturiser or KIBI BB Crème using your KIBI BB Blending Brush, applying immediately your mineral powder continuing to buff while the BB Creme has been freshly applied. Or moisten the tip of your blending brush with a hydrating spray or water and blend your Mineral Powder Foundation for overall comfort and coverage on the skin. Spritzing the skin always after makeup application will offer a dewier effect.
Put simply yes! Due to the pure and raw earth minerals, very few ingredients, using ingredients that protect and heal your skin, that are safe and are non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores). Working with your skin to balance as minerals are naturally anti-microbial and act as an inti-inflammatory while covering imperfection. The purer the make-up the better with acne prone skin types.
